Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) says that life energy (Qi) flows in channels or meridians. According to this concept, there are twelve main channels and each meridian is assigned to a functional circle (organ system). The corresponding acupuncture points, therefore, thread themselves onto the meridians like pearls on a string.
